Dr Stephen Lawson is a Queensland-trained General Practitioner with a special interest in Skin Cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Born in PNG, he moved to Central Queensland (Blackall and Emerald) and finished high school in Brisbane before obtaining a Bachelor of Education and working as a High School Science teacher. After a career change to join the Royal Australian Navy he was selected to attend the University of Queensland, obtaining a medical degree (MBBS). He worked as a junior doctor in the Queensland Health network before completing Primary Care training in the Military and going on to complete a Masters of Medicine in Skin Cancer at UQ.
He remains a Surgeon Captain in the Navy reserve, and has worked in Brisbane, Canada and Canberra as a GP, whilst maintaining a focus on skin cancer and primary care dermatology.
He enjoys spending time with family, and has three school aged children who enjoy outdoor activities including bush walking, beach time, skiing and camping. The most recent addition to the family is a playful Havanese puppy called Tim.
