Dr Will Cranwell is a consultant dermatologist and Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. He is trained in all aspects of medical and surgical dermatology in adults and children. He has subspecialty interests in hair and scalp disorders and the treatments of scars. Dr Cranwell completed his dermatology specialist training at tertiary referral hospitals in Melbourne, including The Alfred Hospital, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital and Box Hill Hospital. He was the recipient of the Australasian College of Dermatologists Research Fellowship to undertake training at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, London in 2020. Here he worked alongside world experts in complex eczema, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, cutaneous lymphoma, immunobullous conditions, photodermatology and paediatrics.
Dr Cranwell graduated with Honours from Monash University with dual degrees in Medicine and Biomedical Science, awarded the Harry Hindlip Green Prize in Medicine. He has completed a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. During specialist training, Dr Cranwell was the recipient of the Founders’ Medal for the highest overall score in Australia in the Procedural fellowship examinations. This included dermatological surgery, injectables, lasers and topical treatments for skin cancer. He also received the Adrian Johnson Memorial Prize for best publication in the Australasian Journal of Dermatology as the primary author of the Australian Expert Consensus Statement for the treatment of alopecia areata.
Dr Cranwell is widely published in Australian and International medical journals and speaks at local and international seminars and conferences. He is a peer reviewer for Australian and International journals including the British Journal of Dermatology and Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. He has been a sub-investigator in international clinical trials investigating treatments for psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, pemphigus vulgaris, epidermolysis bullosa and vitiligo. He is actively involved in the education of Dermatology trainees, Junior Doctors and General Practitioners.
