With ageing, changes to the shape and contour of the face occur and the tone, texture and quality of the skin reduce. At Brisbane Skin we approach early ageing with non-invasive treatments and skin care products. When heavy ageing with skin wrinkling, sagging and volume depletion in areas of the face occur non-surgical modalities may no longer suffice and it may be time to consider surgical options. We are the only clinic is Brisbane to offer both plastic surgery and laser resurfacing in the one location.

More about face lifts

What is a face lift?

Ageing causes the deeper tissues in the face to fall and deflate as the skin becomes stretched and wrinkled. Face Lift is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and tighten deeper tissues of the face to render a more youthful appearance. The aim is to tighten the skin to remove/reduce wrinkles and lift fallen volume into it’s original position.

Ageing involves loss of volume in different parts of the face and can differ significantly between individuals. This volume can be replaced with fillers or fat transfer before, during or after a facelift. Dr Sawhney usually performs a Face Lift with a Neck lift to create a harmonious result.

Why undergo a face lift?

A facelift can be an excellent option to deal with a variety of complaints including:

  • Jowls
  • Loss of definition around the jawline
  • Lining from the nostrils to the mouth corners
  • Double chin
  • Loose and sagging skin

A facelift will often be coupled with other procedures such as a neck lift, a brow lift, upper and/or lower eyelid surgery, Laser skin resurfacing and Fat transfer to achieve the best possible results.

How does face sculpting work?

Face sculpting is like renovating a house. If the structure is in reasonable condition, one can rejuvenate it with minor external non-surgical treatments. But, if the structure has given way it may need more involved surgical work for the desired result.

At your first consultation, Dr Sawhney will assess your facial features from hairline to the base of your neck. He will systematically explain any irregularities or problems present at each level and how we can help. He will ascertain your immediate and long-term goals before forming a short and long-term plan for you. This may mean non-surgical management with injectables at the outset or even minor procedures.

Lifts and Lasers

At Brisbane Skin we often recommend a combined approach of both a face lift and laser resurfacing – the results are outstanding. After your face lift is completed you can come back and complete facial laser resurfacing, or vice versa which will be determined in our consult . This ensures your skin texture and appearance is at its very best, giving you the best possible results post surgery.

Your initial consultation will be in consultation with both Dr Raja Shawney and Dr Shobhan Manoharan.
