Brisbane Skin doctors use pigment-specific lasers to address dark spots, such as brown spots and age spots. The treatment can, in turn, help increase the confidence and sense of well-being of patients. These spots are tan or brown and oval or round and result from cumulative skin damage over a lifetime and increase in size and number with age.

How Does Brown or Age Spot Treatment Work?
We generally use the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light or Photofacial) laser, or the Nd:YAG laser for red and brown spot removal. Each of these state-of-the-art lasers offers a slight variation that allows us to provide you with the most thorough spot removal treatment possible.
The light of the laser is highly targeted so that it affects only the spots to be treated and not the surrounding skin. The light penetrates in short pulses that absorb the brown or red pigment of the spots, lightening them over time.
Recovering From Brown and age Spot Treatment.
One of the advantages of laser treatment for brown spots and age spots is that you can go right back to your life immediately without any downtime.
There may be some short-term after-effects, however, such as redness, tenderness, and inflammation. In some cases, there is crusting, or you may find that a brown spot becomes darker before it becomes lighter. You can usually cover these symptoms with makeup until they resolve. Laser treatments make you more susceptible to the sun, so be sure to wear sunscreen when you are outdoors to protect your skin from sunburn and skin cancer.
