The Cosmelan Peel is a 4-phase treatment to de-pigment, and it works at the cellular level. It blocks the enzyme responsible for hyperpigmentation, tyrosinase, from forming. That means the Cosmelan Peel not only helps to reduce current melasma, but it can prevent future melasma breakouts. Technically, the Cosmelan Peel is still a chemical peel but it’s not like any you’ve experienced before.

How It Works

Brown patches or skin discolouration are a consequence of many factors such as sun exposure, aging, acne scarring and/or hormonal fluctuations due to pregnancy or menopause. The Cosmelan® secret to success is a combination of different depigmentation agents that decrease melanin production and formation in the skin by inhibiting the enzyme Tyrosinase (involved in the manufacture of melanin in the skin). Melanin is responsible for darkening of the skin during tanning and the formation of brown spots after long-term sun exposure. In addition, the hormone Estrogen can influence the production of melanin which is responsible for the formation of melasma.

What Makes the Cosmelan Peel Unique?

Unlike some other chemical peels, the Cosmelan Peel is known for being able to battle melasma. It’s a pigmentation buster in general, but melasma is the most stubborn form of hyperpigmentation. Technically, there’s no cure for melasma—but with the Cosmelan Peel, there’s now a very powerful tool for eliminating and reducing the signs of melasma. If you struggle with melasma, you’ve probably tried all forms of products and other types of chemical peels. This isn’t like anything that’s come before it. This could very well be your answer to bidding farewell to melasma signs for good.

What to Expect with Cosmelan Peel Treatment?

The Cosmelan Peel begins in the clinic and looks like a typical face mask. Clients leave with the mast on, with clear instructions on when and how to remove it (this may vary a bit person to person). In the two weeks following the treatment, some redness, tenderness, and peeling may occur—after all, this is still a chemical peel! However, many clients feel confident enough to take Zoom calls or run necessary errands during this time.
