As we age, skin laxity gradually decreases, and crow’s feet are often one of the earliest signs around the eyes. Our eyes reflect emotions like happiness, sadness, and fatigue, but over time, age and genetics can lead to under eye bags, dark circles, and laxity in the upper and lower eyelids. For those who have aesthetic concerns with their eyes, Brisbane Skin offers multiple treatments to help you have a rejuvenated appearance.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION:

Surgical and laser procedures carry significant risks including infection, scarring, prolonged healing, pigmentation changes, and unsatisfactory results. Blepharoplasty specific risks include vision changes and asymmetry. Full risk assessment required.

Under Eye Bags

Non-surgical eye bag removal treatments, such as chemical peels, RF tightening and CO2 laser resurfacing, help smooth the under-eye area and reduce the appearance of bags. We are also seeing incredible results with an innovative and cost effective treatment that addresses issues such as eye bags, dark circles and wrinkles.

Under Eye Dark Circles

Lasers such as Fraxel, CO2, and Erbium fractional resurfacing, along with RF microneedling, Picosure laser, LED therapy, and chemical peels, can help address dark circles caused by poor skin texture or laxity.

About eye bags

What Are Eye Bags?

Under eye bags are common as you age. As you age the tissue under and around your eye begins to weaken – fat and other fluid can begin to accumulate there.

What Causes Them?

As you get older the tissue structures and facial muscles that support your eyelids weaken. This can cause the skin to sag. Furthermore the fat that normally sits around the eye can begin to migrate to the area below your eyes. The space below your eyes can also accumulate fluid causing your under eye area to look puffy and swollen. Contributing factors can include: allergies, fluid retention, lack of sleep, smoking or genetics.

How To Get Rid Of Eye Bags

There are a range of different options for treating eyebags. Depending on the severity and location. Our treatments are outlined above we will tailor a treatment plan to suit you.

Treatments for eye bags

Blepharoplasty

Eye lift surgery or Blepharoplasty of the lower eyelid is performed to address under eye bags, loose skin and sagging tissue supporting the lower eye area.

Am I A Good Candidate For Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty?

You may be a candidate for blepharoplasty if you always look tired, even after plenty of sleep, if your eye bags are present all day long, if you have excess skin around the eyes and if you notice applying make up is more difficult.

The Benefits Of Blepharoplasty

Having surgery to treat eye bags, loose skin and tissues under the eyes can have a dramatic effect on the overall aesthetic of your face. By addressing the eye bags you will appear less tired and look fresher. With the sagging eyelids being toned and eye bags removed, your eyes can look many years younger.

What is Blepharoplasty?

There are different surgical methods a surgeon can use to rejuvenate the lower eyelids, but the approach usually involves removing fat (or sculpting and redistributing the fat) as well as removing excess skin and sagging muscle.

Recovery

Following the surgery, you can expect minimal swelling and some bruising, this diminishes anywhere from within a week to ten days. Most people go back to work after one week of downtime. You will receive specific instructions for your recovery and have a follow up appointment.

CO2 Laser

Laser skin resurfacing using a CO2 laser is a laser procedure performed by a specialist laser dermatologist. It improves skin texture and the appearance of eye bags.

Key Benefits Of CO2 Laser Treatments

  • One off treatments
  • Dramatic results
  • Long lasting

How Does It Work?

CO2 laser treatment for skin rejuvenation is widely considered to be one of the most effective skin resurfacing techniques available today. The laser aims an intense wavelength of light on damaged skin and vaporises the outer layers that have been affected by sun, age, and other factors. In addition to destroying damaged skin, the laser stimulates underlying skin cells to trigger collagen production.

Is This Treatment Suitable For Me?

Laser skin resurfacing is not appropriate for everyone who visits Brisbane Skin. Our experts meet with each patient to determine whether s/he is a good candidate for the treatment. We do a complete medical history, find out about your lifestyle, and work to get to know you as a person. During your consultation with our Specialist Dermatologist and Plastic Surgeons , we will discuss your expectations for the results. Being realistic about what this treatment can accomplish for you is a major factor in success.

What Does The Treatment Involve?

Laser skin resurfacing targets the outer layer of your skin while simultaneously heating the lower layers in the dermis. This will promote collagen production. Ideally, new collagen fibres will help produce new skin that is smoother in texture and firmer to the touch.

Does The Treatment Require Downtime?

Recovery from this laser resurfacing treatment takes up to two weeks.

EndyMed RF Tightening

This treatment is excellent for tightening of the under the eyes.

EndyMed prompts collagen production for tighter, smoother skin around the eyes. By tightening the skin, EndyMed not only reduces wrinkles, but also lifts the skin for a youthful, refreshed appearance.

How does it work?

EndyMed uses the power radio frequency RF technology to offer a safe, state-of-the-art system that delivers targeted, phase controlled radio frequency directly into collagen fibres.

It works by generating sequential radio frequency waves which repel each other, thereby pushing the RF energy deeper into the skin in a controlled manner. The heat produced tightens existing collagen and stimulates the production of new healthy collagen, this results in a lifting and tightening effect of the skin and a rejuvenated and refreshed appearance.

What’s is involved during the treatment?

After your initial consultation where the treatment is explained and your suitability confirmed. You’ll be asked to sign a consent form to say you understand both the benefits and the risks of the treatments.

During the treatment first we’ll cleanse your skin and then apply a cool gel on the area to be treated, the hand piece is then slowly worked over the area of concern in circular motions, gently warming the skin. We temperature check the treatment at various intervals and ensure that you’re comfortable.

When the treatment is finished, the gel is then removed and moisturiser and SPF sun block is applied.

Does it hurt?

No. The treatment is not painful – many people even find it relaxing.

When will I see results?

You will see immediate results – but the results also become more noticeable over the next month as the collagen is remodelling.

How many treatments will I need?

EndyMed requires a course of four treatments.
