Teenage skin can be challenging! Acne and pimples play a huge role in teenage self confidence as they move through teenage years into adulthood. Our teenage packages are individually tailored to help your teenager overcome acne and provide constant care throughout their course of treatment.
Worried about pimples?
Don’t worry – it’s completely normal and totally treatable! While diet and make up can affect the skin, the main cause of acne is usually hormones and genetics and unfortunately, there is a huge influx of hormones when you become a teenager! Acne is the result of sebum being produced at an increased rate, accumulating under your skin and blocking the sebaceous gland altogether. This provides a feast for skin bacteria and results in acne.
Start with a Dermal Therapist consultation
If you have mild acne, our Dermal Therapists will be able to explain to you how acne is caused and will recommend a topical and nutritional program tailored to suit your condition, as well as some light procedures such as peels or red and blue light treatments which can help keep your acne at bay. Your Dermal Therapist will be able to help you through this period until your pimples have cleared, and will be your point of contact for any concerns you may have.

As teenage girls move into wearing makeup, it is important that occlusive products are not used as this will make their skin even worse. We recommend 100% mineral makeup and can help your teen select makeup that will not worsen their condition. We can also show them how to apply it to achieve natural results with minimal product.
Or go straight to a Dermatologist
If your acne is severe, it is best to see a Dermatologist, who specialises in treating teenage acne. Check our his before and after photos here or read more about acne treatment here. We are also leaders in the field for treating acne scars at the same time as treating your acne, which minimises your overall treatment time. Read more about acne scars here. Appointments with a Dermatologist attract a medicare rebate if you have a referral from your GP.
What should I be doing to help?
Your Dermatologist or Dermal Therapist will create a personalised skincare plan and, if appropriate, recommend therapeutic skincare products for daily use. These may include cleansers, non-comedogenic moisturisers, sunscreen, and clinically supported acne actives (for example, benzoyl peroxide or topical exfoliants) at strengths that are suitable for you. We don’t advertise prescription medicines by name; if a prescription product is appropriate, your clinician will discuss this in consultation, including how to use it safely.
Consistent use matters. Please follow the regimen and any prescribed medicines exactly as directed, attend recommended reviews, and avoid picking or squeezing blemishes. Results and timelines vary between individuals—your clinician will guide you on what to expect and how to adjust the plan if needed.
