Stretch marks are a common skin concern, especially for women who have undergone pregnancy or significant weight changes. While they are not harmful, they can be unsightly and affect one’s confidence. At Brisbane Skin, we offer a safe and effective solution to reduce the appearance of stretch marks using laser therapy.

What are stretch marks?

Stretch marks, or striae, are long, narrow scars that appear on the skin’s surface when the skin is stretched too quickly. They usually start as pink or red lines and then fade to a silvery-white color over time. They commonly occur on the abdomen, thighs, hips, breasts, and upper arms.

Stretch mark removal?

We use specific lasers that emit high-energy pulses of light to break down the scar tissue that causes stretch marks. This stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, two essential proteins that help to improve the skin’s texture and elasticity. The laser also targets the pigment in the stretch marks, causing them to fade over time. Like any scar, stretch marks are permanent, but treatment may make them less noticeable.

How much does it cost?

The cost of stretch mark removal using laser therapy can vary depending on several factors, such as the size of the treatment area, the number of sessions required, and the specific laser technology used. In general, the cost per session can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars.

Our Fraxel laser effectively reduces stretch mark texture but requires a minimum of 6–8 sessions for visible results. While it improves the appearance, it doesn’t completely remove marks. Suitability varies based on color, texture, and overall appearance, assessed during consultation. For darker skin tones with white stretch marks, Fraxel may risk hyperpigmentation.
