Skin Hydration.  As skin matures, it gradually loses its ability to repair itself and retain moisture from within as the body produces less hyaluronic acid over time.  Our skin can start to become dryer by our late teens to our early 20s, with dry skin becoming quite common by the time we reach our 40’s.

Collagen and elastin re-modelling support the deeper structural layers of the skin.
Collagen remodelling improves the skin’s structural foundation. Collagen is the protein that gives skin its firmness and thickness. As we age, collagen breaks down faster than it is replaced, which leads to skin that looks thinner, looser, and more crepey. When collagen production is stimulated, the skin gradually becomes firmer, plumper, and more supported. Fine lines and laxity improve because there is more structural scaffolding beneath the surface. It takes 3-6 months for maximal collagen remodelling to occur.
Elastin remodelling restores the skin’s ability to bounce back. Elastin is the protein responsible for skin’s elasticity, its ability to stretch and return to its original shape. When elastin degrades, skin starts to look and feel less resilient. It may sag, crease more easily, or lose that subtle “snap” of younger skin. Stimulating elastin helps restore that suppleness and spring.
Treatments that support hydration and improved skin structure result in improved dermal hydration,  skin quality and tone.  Topical skincare can support the surface, but it cannot address what is happening at a deeper structural level.
