Dr Amit Patel has a strong surgical background and a patient-centred, collaborative approach to care. He welcomes bookings for a wide range of skin concerns, including comprehensive skin checks, diagnosis and management of benign and malignant skin lesions, and other common dermatological conditions.
Dr Patel holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). He has undertaken advanced postgraduate training in Skin Cancer Medicine and Dermatology through the Australian College of Dermatology, supporting a thorough and evidence-based approach to skin health.
With extensive surgical training across Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, and Urology, Dr Patel brings a high level of procedural expertise and clinical judgement to skin surgery. In addition to the management of skin conditions, he also offers procedures including adult circumcision, vasectomy, nail wedge resections, and cutaneous injections.
Alongside his work in skin medicine, Dr Patel also practices as a GP Urologist at Redcliffe Hospital and Townsville Hospital, where he manages complex urological conditions. This dual hospital and community experience underpins his meticulous, safety-focused approach to skin cancer detection and treatment.
Dr Patel is known for his calm, reassuring manner and strong communication skills, taking the time to explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly so patients feel informed, empowered, and confident in their care. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two young children, and their two dogs.
